Most tented weddings use music with dancing. Choosing a DJ or band for a tented event is the same as for a banquet facility. Some bands and DJ’s will request a platform or stage to protect their equipment from moisture. Electrical power is always a concern with a tented event. Most small bands and DJ’s only require one dedicated 20 amp circuit. This can easily be provided by an extension cord from a homes electrical circuit. A band or DJ should know how much power they will need.
Dance floors add a nice touch for any party. Surfaces such as lawns require an outdoor style dance floor. These floors are thicker and heavier to give a solid feel while dancing. If your tent is going over a solid surface that is flat, either an indoor or outdoor floor can be used. Both styles of dance floor follow the ground contour. Always try to place a dance floor in the flattest area available.
Most tented parties are on lawn or pavement. It is possible to install wood flooring throughout the whole tent. Structural floors can be built over obstacles or sloped areas. Flooring an entire tent is extremely expensive. Carpet should never be used directly over lawn. The loose fit creates severe tripping hazards.
Whether your tent is on lawn, pavement or a full structural wood floor. Your wedding invitations should incorporate suggested footwear (see: party tent do’s and don’ts). Moisture can make most flooring and natural surfaces slippery. Appropriate footwear choice should be suggested to your guests.
