The tented event offers virtually unlimited options when it comes to food and catering. Your
not required to work within the limitations that most banquet halls place on you. The tented
wedding allows you to choose a menu to fit your party and your budget.
Restaurant caters, mixed catering such as a company that specializing in barbecue and
another that provides side dishes are just some of the options. Many of our clients will self
cater or partially self cater. The choices again are virtually unlimited.
It is important to find a caterer that’s willing to work with you. A caterer that works with you
makes planning a party so much easier. A caterer that is difficult and attempts to put strict
limitations on your menu is a caterer to avoid. There are plenty of great caterers that are
willing to help you with your specific needs.
Catering a tented event is very similar to most events. There are some aspects to consider,
power is usually limited, weather can effect serving and there is usually no backup heating
equipment on site. A good caterer will know and understand the requirements of a tented
event and are prepared. Some caterers will request a separate tent for final food
preparation. This is a normal and reasonable request.
Before signing a contract with any caterer, clarify all charges, what they provide,(down to
the salt and pepper shakers, don't take anything for granted) any services such as serving
and clean up, any terms and conditions. Some caterers have unrealistic additional charges
and service fees for tented events. Make sure all aspects of your party have been
discussed and are spelled out. If a caterer starts hitting you with unreasonable charges and
conditions, shop for another caterer!
Their are caterers that will attempt to have you choose "their caterer" or sub-contract the
party rental service through the catering service. One of the great advantages with the
tented event is the flexibility to choose your vendors at the cost and quality you determine.
Placing a middle man between your needs and the vendors providing the service, will
impact quality and cost.
We work with some of the finest caterers in New England. Each have their own style and
expertise. I have found that the caterers that are willing to listen to what a customer is trying
to accomplish and putting together proposals based on the clients needs are the most
successful. In our experience the finest caterers know food and the party rental experts
know party tent rentals.
Many customers ask us to recommend a caterer. We do, but only after we have an idea
of what your looking for. We only recommend caterers that we feel will work the best
with your needs. I will warn you that some caterers and party rental companies have
agreements to recommend and use each other.
Sunshine Tent and Party is proud of the decision we made early on in our business. That
we would only recommend caterers based on quality and performance rather than
helping our bottom line. If your talking with a potential caterer and they are pushing you
toward a certain party rentals company. Ask yourself, why? Is it for you or them.
